| Happy Leap Day!
February 29 comes just once every four years, so it's an ideal day to try something new. I have three simple ideas to get you going today.
1) TRY something you'd never wear I was honored when Adam Glassman asked me to support O Magazine's first-ever clothing collaboration with Talbots to benefit Dress For Success. He styled me in a skirt, which was a shocker since I don't own a single skirt. Dresses, yes, but no skirts. The process opened my mind to trying new things, including fabrics and cuts I swore I'd never wear.
Leap Day To-Do: Pop into a store or a friend's closet and try on something you never thought you'd wear. You may just surprise yourself with colors and cuts that were typically overlooked.
2) BUY from a new place Deal Hunter, my new show on HSN, sold out of all seven brands I featured. On its earnings call last week with analysts, HSN chairman Mindy Grossman said I delivered 25% new customers to HSN. People who had never before watched or shopped HSN have told me they loved my show and their new purchase. Victories all around!
( Watch a fun recap of the excitement.)
Leap Day To-Do: Buy something to treat yourself from a place you've never patronized. (If you need a shopping tip, check out today's View Your Deal---- free shipping and luxury savings.) 3) EAT a new dish
I splurged on an air fryer that's taken a few weeks of experimentation to nail just the right dish: Brussels chips.
Don't laugh. It's simple: peel the leaves of each sprout apart so you have a pile of single pieces. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper and pop into the oil-less air fryer. After a few minutes you get chip-like pieces. Some a little more crispy (ok, charred) than others, but all a delicious way to enjoy the veggie.
Leap Day To-Do: Choose a recipe, kitchen utensil or cooking device that you've never tried---- and give it a whirl at dinnertime tonight. You may not nail it on the first try, but let the Leap Day attempt inspire your future efforts.
Send me a tweet to tell me how you're celebrating Leap Day. Make it a great week!
